Every family deserves an inclusive book for children about the entire body, from head to toes, and everything in between! "...a beautiful celebration of the human body written and illustrated in a way that is fun, accessible, and easy for parents and children to read together." - Ciarán Anthony DellaFera, BSG, M.D. Family Medicine Physician Your Whole Body is an award winning book that helps parents teach their children the names for their genitals in a comfortable and natural way by seamlessly weaving in the explanations and illustrations for private parts as the book explores our amazing human bodies from head to toes! Your Whole Body is a must-have for your family's bookshelf because: It helps parents who aren't sure how to start the conversation, or don't know if they're doing it right. It teaches children the names of their genitals in an approachable way. It teaches the purpose of body parts in an inclusive way that helps all kids see themselves in the pages. It encourages a view of genitals as just another body part your child can discuss openly with you. It helps give your child the confidence to talk about potentially uncomfortable or inappropriate situations they may encounter in the future. It includes interesting facts that some adults may not even know! It is beautifully and thoughtfully illustrated - making it a great gift and recommendation as well! This is the book all families of young children have been needing, so don't delay in getting (and gifting) a copy today!Your Whole Body is a 2022 AASECT award winner.
If you're a sensitive boomer, this book isn't for you!Otherwise...This book is exactly what I was looking for. We have been teaching our 2 girls (currently almost 5 and 3) the correct names for their genitals since before they could understand words, but i wanted something with a picture so that they could tell specifically without having to look, especially since its pretty hard to see it on yourself, and its not very appropriate to look at someone elses. We wanted a book that gave the specifics of the genitals as a lot of books will specify vagina but not urethra, vulva, etc. I have another book that gives the details on the inner organs also but referred to the urethra as just "hole where the pee comes out" which isnt wrong, but I'd prefer to just have the real name. This book does it so smoothly and doesnt act like its anything different from any other body part, as it should be taught. It's gorgeously illustrated and very inclusive, with kids of all backgrounds, even ones with prosthetics! And I love that it mentions the differences there can be in people, ie blindness, deafness, mobility issues, even to not having hair! And very inclusive if you've chosen to teach them of being gender neutral; it just says "some people" rather than "boys/girls" for the genitals. It shows the difference between both intact and a circumcised penis, which is especially great if maybe daddy is circumcised but baby isn't or vise versa.I also LOVE that it even specifies that some people mean vulva when they say vagina and the difference between the 2.My girls are currently almost 5 and almost 3 and while I may skip some of the wording for now to keep their interests to get through the whole book, I think it will grow with them perfectly and be a great teaching opportunity. Even for some adults that may not know where certain parts are ?
