Is it the end of the world? It might as well be,or it must seem like it if you are the mother and father of a missing or kidnapped child. "My Body Is My Own" is the book for all parents devoted to keeping their children safer. The author doesn't sugar-coat, nor is he interested in being politically correct. He points out the good and the shortcomings of politicians and law enforcement agencies. Most important, this book takes parents step-by-step through everyday child safety and directs parents regarding what to do if their child is kidnapped, missing or sexually abused.
This book is a must-have for ANYONE who cares about the safety and welfare of children in general - especially if you are a parent, relative, guardian, teacher, or are in any way shape or form responsible for a child. Ty Ritter has an incredible and fascinating background coupled with a very unique perspective into the minds of people who target and victimize children, and he's done this world a huge service by presenting in book form the most basic and critical ways you can protect the children in your care on a daily basis. I am baffled that this is the first time I've heard of this book - it has not recieved the publicity its due.I don't think you can see the book's contents on the Amazon page, so just to give you an idea, Mr. Ritter talks about his background in recovering kidnapped children - and this introductory information alone is pretty intense. He also discusses the profile of a predator, child sexual abuse, kidnappings, parental abduction, pedophiles on the internet, national registration of child molesters, safe apartment living, statistics, advocacy groups, and pending legislation.I am so grateful that someone like Ty Ritter exists. Too often, people don't think about things like this unless something tragic has affected a child in their life. This is a book for people who actively choose to not keep their heads buried in the sand about the fact that this world is full of people who target and exploit and victimize children. Although it is full of information that is not for the faint-of-heart, it is by far the best book on child safety I have EVER come across. As a survivor of sexual abuse, an aunt, a sister, and a professional childcare worker, I found this information so completely essential and practical. If you are even considering this purchase...don't hesitate! You will NOT be disappointed. It's impossible to put down once you start reading!
