I already have bowflex 52lb adjustable dumbbells. The problem with them is that they go from 5-20lb in 2.5lb increments and then 20-52lb in 5lb increments. That can be a bit high for progressive overload. So, for my olympic barbell, I have plates that go from 0.25lb (microplates) to 45lb. I will be able to increase by as little as half a pound per workout. Reusing existing plates makes it great. Some people complain that it comes with only one dumbbell. I read the description and ordered 2. I think people need to read the description more before leaving 1 star reviews. Each one was like $50. That's honestly not bad considering they are from a reputable brand. You can get cheaper ones that are like $25 a piece, but I've done that before with a very cheap brand (CAP) and it was disgusting. I'd rather pay more and get a solid product. Body-Solid is actually sold at Dicks, so it's the same thing you'd get there. Amazon has it for a great price, though! They are longer than your traditional dumbbells. They aren't too long, though. I think you'd probably want to load up smaller weights before bigger weights. For example, if you want to put 90lbs onto a dumbbell. I wouldn't do a huge 45lb plate on each side. I'd do smaller plates until it adds up to 45lbs. Such as 25lb, 10lb, 5lb or something. Less diameter to get in your way.I am glad these didn't come with collars. I wouldn't want to be "paying" for that. I already have great collars that I'd end up using anyways because they're awesome. All in all, I'm very pleased. And I do not agree with the 1 star reviews for this product. This is a great addition to your exercise room.I like using my rubber coated body solid weight set for every exercise to make the most of them. No more buying dumbbell sets and I don't have to buy those super expensive bowflex ones either, besides those only go up to 50 lbs anyways and I hate feeling constricted. With these, I can really pack on the weight if needed.NOTE: Just as these can hold more weight, they also have a small drawback. You probably knew this since most dumbbells are around 12" usually, and this one is listed as 20" long. When you do a dumbbell press and you bring the dumbbells directly in front of you, they touch each other at the point where your arms are directly in front of you like when you do a regular pushup. Most dumbbells can go in further inward towards the chest. You still get full extension with these pretty much, just not any leftover play once fully lifted. It's difficult to fully contract the center part of the chest when the long bars are clanging together. You could offset each of the weights a bit, so the bars don't touch, but that just seems awkward. Still love em though! This review is for Heavy Duty 9 Pound Olympic Dumbbell Handle. These handles have functioned very well for me. After two years, these handles are just like new. They show no signs of rust, and they have yet to become “loose” like some Olympic bars do. I do the most minimal maintenance to them. They can support a lot of weight, and thanks to the longer caps they have the ability to hold that weight. The only real downside to me is the collars. They are better than spring collars for sure, but they will still slide a little bit if you kick them back for bench press or shoulder presses. Over all, they are very nice. I am impressed to this day with the quality. If you are looking for dumbbell handles, and need them to support a lot of weight, this is the way to go.Pros:Heavy duty. Can support a lot of weight. No rust after two years.Cons:Collars will still slide a little bit. After buying this product and finding out the price was only for one dumbbell I felt ripped off and bought a cheaper version in Dicks sporting goods, thinking I got a bargain I quickly went home to use them. Only to find out that my weights did not fit it and it felt really cheap. I ended up returning my cheap weights and ordered another one through Amazon.I am really happy with the quality and fit of these dumbbells, my only Con is the price but cheaper isn't always better.Description is misleading. Be forewarned that you only receive one dumbbell. Quality seems nice, but at nearly $50 for one, it is extremely over priced. So far, I've been really pleased with this handle and every Body Solid product I've purchased. I don't use the collars; I got Muscle Blox for that and I love them. These collars looks cumbersome and possibly dangerous if they aren't tightened well enough. But the bar itself is nice. The bars themselves are solid and seem pretty heavy duty. The screw clips that come with them are a pain, however - get something different.Dumbbell handle is ok, but I thought I was receiving two handles and not just one. I suggest you buy from somewhere else.Update - I also see they label it one dumbbell now and not leave you guessing.
