Stands 6 inches tall
Solar powered
Rocks side to side when exposed to light
Everything appeared just like the picture but no amount of sunshine will make Groot dance. This Groot dancing solar powered guy is very cute and works well. It is very big, I was quite surprised by the size of it. Its about 8" inches tall in total and 2-3 inches wide at the base.I have never been able to make him dance in the windows with regular light, but I put him in my growing area with my succulents and he soaks up the growing lights and dances like crazy when they are on during the day. His lower body swings back and forth about an inch for his "dancing" mechanism. Make sure light source is coming from above as the solar strip is inside the base at his "feet" and blocked from sun on the sides. The dancing is very cute because it looks like the dancing of baby groot in the end of the first Guardians movie. He is overall a cute addition to my indoor succulent garden and dances around in the grow lights. A little bigger than I was both wanting and expecting, but nothing to major to ruin the purchase. If you are a Guardian of the Galaxy fan this is the perfect t gift. I start my day with a little laugh just watching GROOT do his little DanceProduct is solar powered as stated, and all it does is move side to side. It does not dance as advertised. Tho I suppose to some people side to side is dancing. Very disappointed in this cheap product. When the bobble head version of Groot came out I thought, "why hasn't someone done a solar version so he can really be a dancing Groot?" Then I saw this and had to buy. It does work when you put it under light or the sun just like any dancing flower, however, the bottom portion is what moves side to side, so the head remains stationary. The arms also don't move - not a big deal but not digging the side to side motion of the body. It also makes a loud clicking noise when he moves. Not a problem to me but it was annoying the snot out of my husband so had to turn it off to keep him from throwing it out the window. In summary: this is a neat product, but I would have designed it differently like a traditional dancing flower.I loved Groot at first, but after about a month and a half, he got old. The problem with Groot is how he is designed. The head his held still while the body rocks back and forth on a pivot point at the neck. There is a magnet connected to the bottom of his body that is hidden in the cup casing. The little solar panel powers a copper coil that is below the magnet and causes the body to rock back and forth. The body then rocks back and forth hitting the sides of the slit in the cup cover and bouncing back going the reverse direction it was rocking a second ago. The issues is that he ticks or whacks as fast as the second hand of a clock and is considerably louder. I would say he is slightly louder as someone clicking their loud pen, but his noise travels a bit further than the pen. He can be heard easily and loudly throughout a small room. When exposed to direct sunlight, he marches double time making a plastic whack sound approximately two times a second. Groot was not the quiet little fella that I wanted to get.Note: picture is overexposed to show details hidden by cup coverGiftsble for anyone who likes Guardians of the Galaxy.I love anything solar. I also liked The Guardians of the Galaxy. I kept seeing people with solar flowers dancing in their cars and I thought there was probably a Groot out there. Well, here it is. Although I find it cool, it doesn't work like the solar flowers do. Instead, there is a stick that it is hinged to and it sways back and forth. Although it is still cool, it was a minor letdown. Judging from the angle that you view this from you can see the stick behind Groot holding him up.Model is as advertised, once critcism though is that as the model sways from side to side it tend to make a click noise as it hits the edge of it swing range which is a bit annoying. I manage to dampen the noise a bit by placing a cotton wool bud on the side at the edge which reduces its swing momentum and so far has kept it silent as it moves.I purchased this Groot body knocker a couple of weeks ago & it's been one of the best novelty toy's I have got, it rocks as soon as it gets bright enough & boy does it go, Two of my friends have since purchased as gifts for other people so if your into the films or just curious about it get it anyway. The photo cunningly hide the big black bar up the back that is attached to the top of the neck. The thing moves in a swinging motion from this point, with the head motionless and the arms motionless attached to the body. It's okay I guess, but it really doesn't do anything except swing back and forth. Frankly I was expecting it to 'dance' somewhat like Groot does in the film ... at least move the arms or something. Nope. It just swings. And makes a loud ticking noise.Expensive for a little gift, but it's cute. Only issue is that it moves with the momentum, so is often found on the floor, plus it makes and irritating banging noise. BUT you can turn it off, which is perfect!!A great desk Item. Ironically mine worked a little too well and I had to lengthen the slot in the base as it kept hitting against the edges of it. Most solar power toys have half the energy of this little chap.
