I was looking for a switching solution for a TacoGenie hot water recirculator for a while. The TacoGenie is a great product but switching it on usually has only two options; a manual push button or a PIR motion sensor. Neither of which were convenient or efficient in my scenario. Luckily one of the circuits in TacoGenie works essentially the same as a 24v alarm circuit. After figuring out the wiring, I hooked up this microwave sensor and was in business. I was able to position the sensor under the kitchen sink, inside the cabinet and behind a solid maple door. I adjusted the settings so motion was sensed only when someone stepped up to the kitchen sink. This avoided any false triggers of someone simply walking through the area and increased the efficiency and reduced the load on the pump. The sensing distance is pretty consistent but does seem to fluctuate slightly with temperature. However, the fluctuation never seems to be more than a few inches. Everything is automatic, all with the sensor out of sight. I highly recommend this sensor.
