Mystery and secrets run through the pages of this well-written story. A compassionate PI, Carlos, with a difficult past has a holiday visit with his sister. He arrives to find out the neighbor is missing. Out on a walk with his brother and dog, they find a body. No sooner does Carlos begin an investigation then another body turns up. Right about now, it’s late into the night and I don’t want to stop reading. It’s that good! Well-written, fast-paced, the author brings the cast of characters alive with vivid scenes like “darkening sky now reflected her mood” and dialogue like “I expect she can smell other dog scents and squirrels; she has a great nose…” This story flows through the pages like melted butter. This is my first from this author. It won’t be my last.
