Get rolling! Your body will ask for more.Created by veteran yoga teacher Yamuna Zake, body rolling is a revolutionary fitness technique that uses six- to ten-inch inflatable balls to strengthen, tone, and realign the body, while providing sensations that can surpass the bliss of a massage. Now, in the first book devoted to body rolling, Zake shares the routines that she has imparted to thousands of clients across the country, and shows you how to get on the ball--and get the body you’ve always wanted. The next step for fans of yoga and Pilates, body rolling is the ultimate way to streamline your figure and promote physical wellbeing without the bulked-up results of conventional workout methods. Like yoga and Pilates, these easy-to-follow, fully illustrated routines will condition and lengthen your muscles, improve core strength, and enhance posture, flexibility, and balance. But unlike those practices, body rolling also realigns your spine and joints, relieving pain and muscle tension and providing a workout, a massage, and a chiropractic session all at once. The routines can be combined for a full body workout, or abbreviated for instant relief—to ease shoulder tightness after a long workday or to enhance bedtime relaxation. The result: You will be not only stronger and more fit with a long, lean shape—you’ll stand taller, you’ll move more easily, and best of all, you’ll feel terrific.
I bought this based on reviews. I had the book spiral bound at Staples like another reviewer recommended. Worth it. I've done the back rolling about 7 times. And I must say, it has helped immensely. I have tried EVERYTHING to relieve my back pain; cat-scan cortizone shots; chiropractors; cortico steroids; physical therapy; acupuncture; hot-cold treatments, etc. I was in a bad car accident at age 17; at age 26 I had discs L-4 & L-5 removed. I have been in varying levels of pain since. I tried the Foundation exercises which helped at first but then exacerbated my problem. I didn't like the price of this yellow ball, but I was desperate. I can honestly say that it has helped immensely with my back pain. The first time on the ball, following the book's instructions, I got 4 BIG cracks (my spine adjusting itself) in my back--what a relief that was! After that I knew what to do--completely relax on that ball & let it all go, with each breath, just like the book says, and voila! Relief. Now I do it every other day, and yes, I do feel MUCH better after. It's not hard--it's a no-brainer--just do it a few minutes a day or when you feel pain---and it really does help. I have gone from needing a prop--ie: table or chair--for help "straightening up" after sitting to just being able to stand up without pain. In my opinion, this ball and the book is definitely worth the price. I haven't done any of the other exercises---just the back, since that's what has debilitated me all these years. I would definitely recommend.
