I only realized that I bought the wrong body shop product after one week of usage. But I love it, it won me. I was trying to buy the face wash, but the body wash is very similar, same smell and texture, my skin loved!❤️Ok, so I got this in the mail recently and I just used it for the first time in the shower today. I'm going to update this review after 2 weeks or so once I see how this does more long term, but I wanted to post my initial reactions to the product. I am a 25 year old female who has suffered from back/shoulder acne since middle school. I used to use Proactiv body wash, and that worked just ok. It worked pretty well if I showered twice a day (which was the recommendation when I bought the product), but who really showers twice a day? It was kind of unrealistic for me. When I was younger I had used a couple different body acne washes, like a Neutrogena one, however I found those to be too drying. So I used the Proactive wash on an off during college and in my adult life, but for the past couple of years I have just used my regular body wash, praying my breakouts would calm down and become manageable. That basically did happen, especially during the summer when I'm able to get some sun, etc. However, for the past 6 months or so my acne has seemed to get worse so I was looking for a body wash product to help with that. After reading many reviews about this body wash, I decided to give it a go because I know tea tree oil does good stuff- I once used tea tree shampoo for dandruff when I was younger. As you can see above I gave it 3 stars, but really it's more like 3.5. Like others have said, this body wash does not lather. I used it with a body loofah because I wanted some exfoliation as well, and there was really no lather. It's a bit disconcerting when you're showering like that, because it's difficult to tell if it's actually going on your skin, or if the loofah is sucking it all up, etc. I'm going to use it on a shower poof tomorrow and see how that works out. Many people have commented on the smell. I won't lie, the smell is strong. Like I said above, I have used Tea Tree products before but this one is much more pungent than anything else I've used. All you smell is tea tree. If you are very opposed to that smell, I don't recommend this as I don't know how you would stomach it. So overall it's not a bad smell if you're ok with tea tree to begin with, I'd say. I was worried I would smell like tea tree all day, but when I asked my husband he said he didn't even notice a different smell in the bathroom, so I don't think it will stick with you too much if you're worried about that.It washed off cleanly, which is another thing I was looking for. I have very soft water at my house and sometimes soaps feel like they leave a residue, but I thought this body wash rinsed off well so I was pleased by that. The bottle is small, so I'm not sure how long it's going to last. But, if it's a product that works, that doesn't bother me too much. I will order more. When I bought this body wash, I also ordered the tea tree toner that The Body Shop offers, so I applied that to my skin after my shower. Many people recommended using these two items together, so I am giving it a try. The toner worked great, IMO. It definitely got off a lot more dirt from my skin and pores so I was pleased with that.It has been a few hours since my shower, and I have very oily skin generally, yet my skin is still not oily yet, so I think it has helped with that. Both products really seem to have also helped clean out the pores on my chest as well, which I have always had a problem with as I have very large pores there.Overall I like this body wash and toner combination well enough. I still don't like that it doesn't suds up, but like I said, maybe the body poof will work better. My skin is also pretty sensitive, and I have had no reaction from this yet today so if you're worried about that, I think you would be good to go.After a couple weeks I will update this with how the Body Wash is doing for my back and body acne overall.I have had painful and unsightly hormonal breakouts on my back and shoulders since I was 24 (I just turned 29) and after trying a ton of different products, finally I thought "Hey, I use tea tree oil for everything else, maybe it'll work." So I searched all over the site and found several, but this sounded the best, so I got the body gel and the toner along with Phisoderm for blemished skin that balances your skin's PH levels (important for any troubled skin treatment) and after the first shower (this first on a body brushing tool, then this again on a loofah, then the Phisoderm with a terrycloth very thoroughly and then the toner on my shoulders and back right before my pores closed) I couldn't believe it...although I had to as there was tangible proof. The large, under the skin bumps weren't as inflamed and didn't really hurt, the medium ones were smaller, and the small bumps were in that state where you know it will be gone in a day or two. I love the scent, as it actually smalls like tea tree oil, which to me smells like cleanliness and being pathogen-free lolThis was just my experience, I don't think it would be the same for everyone, I think I just got exactly what my body needed, which was PH balance and anti-bacterial that wasn't harsh and was mostly natural, which is what I prefer anyway.I will never use other domestic products for my face though; I have VERY sensitive skin. Most products contain harsh ingredients like benzoyl peroxide...I'd left my Porefinist Cleansing Oil and Foaming Cleanser in my other bathroom, didn't own this yet, and found an a tube of ********** cleanser so I used that...that stuff burned half of my face HORRIBLY and left it raw and almost bloody red and left the rest painfully sensitive. My entire face was a pulsing centre of suffering because I had started using Shara Shara's Sake and Ceramide Night and Day Routine Set that is effective, mild and very gentle as a toner, lotion, and face cream set. Two or three weeks after I started using it (monthly breakout; the set actually cleared up any tint blemish I had) I had a horrible facial breakout and at that point didn't have the products I do now and I used a very popular brand I won't name's Extra Strength Oil Control Facewash...my sebum production was noticably reduced, as was a chemical burn so horrid I had to use green tea sheet masks and keep aloe serum with Plant-Water gel-cream moisturizer on at all times.P.S- To anyone interested in alternative, non-drugstore brand natural products for facial skin: For facial breakouts which are mild and only for a few days a month like mine, this, I use a spot treatment; generally use a Bee Venom and Propolis with Mucin spot treatment over a fully dried and patted in tea tree and eucalyptus essence, pink clay with tea tree and a few other super effective natural ingredients when that dries, and if I get a really large blemish, I use the pink clay with tea tree oil clay pack and the next day the blemish has shrunk and lost so much redness that it isn't even visible. I use SNP's, it's a miracle worker. Also you can us this toner alone, have a mix of a bit with clay or cornstach and use it as a pack on blemishes and you'll get nearly the same results as far as the swelling going down and the redness subsiding. On smaller bumps it will also get rid of them.Once you have a breakout, this product immediately clears the breakout and prevents it. However, if you have very oily skin and use this, then your face will be pretty dry, which isn't good. I would recommend using this as your acne facewash and then using a moisturizer once you've dried your face.I love this product so much. I’ve been using it for 6 months now and my back acne is an issue of the past. If I stop using for a week I’ll start to get break outs again, but with regular use it is incredible. When I first started my back was really bad so I used it morning and evening for the first week or two and instantly saw results within a few days. I haven’t tried other products because this has been so successful. The scent is fine, nothing special but not unflattering at all.I’ve seen other reviews mention that it doesn’t ‘suds up’ or lather well - which is true if you try to use it with a traditional wash cloth or loofah + you’ll need to use more with these and go through the product quickly. However, using it with a rubber body brush it will lather instantly so you can use only a small amount and it will cover a large area of skin (attached a picture to show what type of product I’m talking about). I got one on the target discount rack once for under $5, and since using the body scrubber with this product an 8oz container will last 3 months even with daily use.Hope this helps!!I’ve struggled with really bad back acne for probably 3 years now and I’ve tried EVERYTHING. I’ve spent so much money on different products, I’ve tried the doctors, and nothing has helped. When I first started using this body wash I saw no difference, I actually had a really bad breakout the first few weeks but I thought I had nothing to lose so carried on with it and I’m so glad I did! I now have barely any active spots, just scars but compared to how it was it’s changed my life! I feel so much more confident and I will 100% carry on using it daily. I know people have said the price is high but to find something that actually works, I don’t care how much it is! I would really recommend giving it a go and sticking with it, it’s taken me about a month to see results but it has been worth it.Rarely leave reviews but this product was excellent at clearing my problem skin on my back and shoulders. I've never had bad skin before, but into my 30s I started getting more and more spots on my upper and lower back, likely due to wearing compression gear when running, and perhaps simply due to a change in my skin due to age.I tried a number of products, and the only thing that would keep my back completely clear was using stand-up tanning beds twice a week. However, aware of the dangers of this, I started to look at alternative products to the ones I had previously tried.Excited by the reviews I bought this product, and I have to say, I'm not disappointed. Washing twice daily with a light scrubbing back brush, my back is so much clearer, with only the odd, small blemish now. Really happy with this and will continue to reorder. Only thing: the product is currently £14, which is exactly twice the price the identical product and volume is on sale for in The Body Shop. However, I notice that they are presently sold out: so - worth the money.I have been using this body wash for a week now and my back acne has almost completely gone! I had noticed over the past few months that I was getting a lot of cystic type spots on my upper back and was struggling to get rid of them. I did a bit of research and it led me to this bottle of magic! My skin is so much healthier and cleaner looking, smells great too! Definitely worth a try if you have blemishes on your skin. For a shower gel that is supposed to be for body acne, it has a strong scent. All the other body acne shower gels I tried before have pretty much no fragrance, so after I shower with it and put on deodorant, I get a slight whiff of B.O. (and I don’t sweat that much). So, it is nice that this has a refreshing scent that can refresh your body.It IS too early to say if this has helped with the blemished though. This is the perfect replacement for my neutrogena body wash which was becoming more and more difficult and expensive to buy in the UK. Highly recommended for those with acne prone skin. i also suggest using the tea tree range from body shop for a lasting solution to acne prone skin
