In this dark comedy, a college campus holds the remains of Horus, and Seth the God of Chaos and the Deserts has plans to take the body for himself to secure the throne. In his employ are a professor, Loki (yes THAT Loki), and a band that plays live gigs at a strip club. But things aren't all they are cracked up to be. Loki discovers that two employees of the college are actually his great grand children. Meanwhile, a lady is so desperate to sell girl scout cookies that she calls upon voodoo deities, her best friend tries to tag along, and a Canadian beekeeper with a flair for unicorns finds himself crossing paths with the supernatural. In just two weeks, all of them cross paths in a battle royale! This book is wickedly funny. No prop goes unnoticed, no pun goes unpunished. There's a conversation about how to kill a T-Rex with a suppository in the beginning of the book that plays a remarkable role towards the end. There's a reference to a same-sex relationship between a teacher and a sasquatch that is referenced several times throughout the book, in a way that seems funnier with each retelling.I have never seen Ancient Egyptian or Nordic Mythology bastardized to such hilarious effect has I have in this book. It is expertly written. I impatiently wait for the HBO adaptation.6/5, but -1 star for never definitively addressing whether a sasquatch has a "normal one" or a "red rocket" one.
