If you enjoy well-written mysteries with a strong sense of place, you will enjoy this series that is set in Ireland. Ben is a lawyer in a small town who runs her own practice. She is also our amateur detective. Although each mystery in the series could stand alone, you should read them in order because of the changes in the continuing characters. The mystery in this case involves an unusual murder of a powerful philanthropist who is in town because of a bike ride that is supporting his charity. To complicate matters, the town is facing is historic rains and flooding that leave the area cutoff from surrounding areas and forensic support. This series is really one of the best. I look forward to reading more as they are written. If you particularly like well-written mysteries with a strong sense of place, you might also like books by Jane Harper (Australia), Paul Doiron (his Mike Bowditch series set in Maine), Iona Wishaw (the Lane Winslow historic mystery series set in British Columbia), Jean-Luc Bannalec (the Commissaire Dupin series set in Brittany), Martin Walker (the Bruno chief of Police series in the Dordogne), Ann Cleeves (several series including the Vera Stanhope series set in Northumberland, the Shetland Island series featuring Jimmy Perez, and the Two Rivers series set near Devon featuring Matthew Venn), Elly Griffiths (her Ruth Galloway series in Norfolk, several standalones and the Harbinder Kaur books set in Brighton), and Louise Penny (the Armand Gamache books set in Three Pines and the area around Montreal Canada). For those who are squeamish, there are murders but not many gory details and there is romance but no explicit sex scenes. The quality of the Kindle edition is fine.
